10 Prime Tips for Efficient Packing Order
Smart packing order can be a lifesaver during moving process.
Moving and packing is one of those trials that almost everyone must face, like getting a tooth pulled or driving a long distance through uninteresting landscapes. It’s not always pleasant, and it’s never particularly enjoyable, but it usually results in a positive outcome.
Of course, the success of any endeavor, particularly moving, is dependent on avoiding moving mistakes and planning ahead of time to make the process as smooth as possible.
1. Use the appropriate sized boxes (packing order)
Pack books and other heavy items in small boxes when moving; light items, such as linens and pillows, can go in larger ones. (A common complaint of professional movers is large boxes packed with heavy items. They not only make the job more difficult, but they also have a higher chance of breaking.)
2. Place heavier items on the bottoms of boxes and lighter items on top (packing order).
If you’re loading the truck yourself, place the heaviest boxes first, toward the front of the truck, for balance.
3. Do not leave any blank spaces in the boxes(packing order).
Clothes, towels, or packing paper can be used to fill in the gaps. Movers frequently refuse to move boxes that appear to be loosely packed or unbalanced.
4. Do not place items from different rooms in the same box.
It will make packing and unpacking much faster and easier.
5. Label each box with the room it’s going to and a description of what’s inside.
This will assist you and your movers in determining where each box belongs in your new home. It’s a good idea to number each box and keep an inventory list in a small notebook to keep track of what you’ve packed.
6. Securely tape your moving boxes.
Close the bottom and top seams with tape, then use one of the movers’ techniques to wrap a couple of wraps all the way around the box’s top and bottom edges, where stress is concentrated.
7. If you’re transporting valuable art, ask your mover about special crating.
Learn how to pack artwork for moving in order to keep it safe. You should never wrap oil paintings in regular paper; it will stick. Make an X with masking tape across the glass when packing pictures for moving to strengthen it and keep it together if it shatters.
The pictures should then be wrapped in paper or bubble wrap and placed in a frame box, with a piece of cardboard between each framed piece for protection.
8. Take special care when packing the kitchen for relocation.
Packing the kitchen requires a wide range of items. Discover how to pack dishes for moving: Wrap packing paper around each dish, then wrap five or six bundles together with more paper. Dishes should always be packed on their sides, never flat.
Additionally, use a lot of bunched-up paper as padding above and below. Cups and bowls can be stacked on top of one another, with paper in between, and wrapped in three or four bundles. Pack everything in dish-barrel boxes.
When packing glasses for moving, use a box with cardboard dividers and wrap them in multiple layers of paper to protect them.
9. Organize your closet.
You can pack folded clothes in cardboard boxes, suitcases, or even leave them in the dresser (if it doesn’t make the dresser too heavy to move!). Use a special wardrobe box to hang your clothes in. (As an added bonus, you won’t have to figure out how to pack your hangers for moving!)
When packing shoes for moving, you must protect them from each other. Wrap shoes individually to prevent sharp heels or buckles from damaging other shoes and to keep dirt from one pair of shoes from contaminating the rest of your shoes. Socks can be packed in
10. Discover how to pack a television for relocation.
Some movers wrap TVs in quilted furniture pads like any other piece of furniture. Plasma TVs, on the other hand, require special wooden crates for shipping if the original box is missing and can be ruined if laid flat. If you’re packing your own TV, double-box it by placing the box containing the TV inside another box padded with packing paper.
